Team Alfa cycles to Brighton!
On a Sunday in September, fourteen of us arrived at Clapham Common sporting our lycra to cycle 55 miles to Brighton, in aid of our charity partner Mind.
We made our way at around 9.45 in our three separate groups, for a leisurely ride out of London, through Surrey and into West Sussex. At the top of Turner's Hill, two groups managed to coordinate a pit stop to rest and refuel for the rest of the journey, with the third group stopping slightly earlier en route.
After a lovely pub lunch, we resumed the journey, in anticipation of that hill just before the end. Continuing through West Sussex and into East Sussex, approximately 45 miles into the ride came the dreaded Ditchling Beacon - a mile long hill, with a gradient of 15.6% at its worst!
This marked the start of the end of the journey - all that was left now was a 30-minute downhill ride into Brighton, where we cruised in around 15.30 to find a pub with outdoor seating for some well deserved recovery drinks.
It was a great event and the weather made it all the more enjoyable! Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far, we've now raised a whopping £895 and the donations are still coming in! Until next year…
